June 15, 2003 — Menomonie, WI … What a great evening for a drum corps competition! The Don & Nona Williams Stadium is a beautiful, 2-year-old facility. The seats face east, so there are no sun problems, (for the viewers), and the field is made of AstroTurf. The place reminds me of De Kalb’s stadium, but only about a third as high. The organizers did a fantastic job!

I would like to preface this review by stating that all of the corps performing tonight had drill, marching and form issues. This is normal this early in the season, and I’m certain everyone knows this, especially the corps.

Madison Scouts
The Madison Scouts are always a crowd-pleaser, as is their tradition. This year is no exception. The first impression I had of the Scouts this year is that they have a point to prove. They’ve had a rocky couple of years, and they came out of the gates tonight showing what drum corps is all about: pleasing the fans…
